Auction Description Aug 2004

Original 7 inch acetate disc, 45 RPM, with white "Emidisc" label, written by hand "Strawberry Fields, 45, G.E, The Beatles," made in England, very light scratching, overall very good condition.

It is a well known fact among Beatle fans that Strawberry Fields is an actual location in Lennon's hometown in Liverpool, England. Strawberry Field (the original name is singular) was an orphanage where Lennon played with his friends as a child. In early 1967, the song would become a hit single from the Magical Mystery Tour LP (along with "Penny Lane" as a double "A" side). Strawberry Fields Forever remains one of the Beatles' peak achievements in the bands career and is revered as one of the finest Lennon-McCartney songs with fans worldwide.
