NOTES

The first time I came across this disc is 2005 when it appeared on the excellent The Beatles Source web site. It is one of five surviving acetates of this track.

I have listed the 2018&2019 prices as less than the offered prices as I have assumed that they didn't not sell for these amounts.

Buy It Now Price £3,874

Retail Description - 2018 & 2019

An original single sided 7 inch Emidisc acetate for The Beatles song ‘Yes it Is'. It has 9 th April 1965 written on the label and the disc was cut by EMI engineer A. B. Lincoln. The sing was the B-side to The Beatles single ‘ticket To Ride'. The acetate looks very good minus and plays very good plus. But It Now Price £2,500

Auction Description - Apr 2018

Recorded in 14 takes during a 5 hour session at A bbey Road on 16th February 1965, 'Yes It Is' was released as the 'b' side to 'Ticket To Ride'.

Although dismissed by Lennon as a failed re-write of 'This Boy', this melodic song saw them experiment with sound textures and complex chord structures as well as showcasing their immaculate 3-part harmonies

This 100% genuine 1965 acetate is a single-sided 7" metal, lacquer covered disc which plays at 45rpm.

An 'EMIDISC' label is adhered to one side on which is handwritten: song title, group, speed, cutting engineer's initials & the UK release date of the 'Ticket To Ride' 45 - 9th April 1965 .

A number '76' is embossed around the hole on the blank side of the disc.

The mono track is the same as the released version and is timed at 2.38 (not 2.42 as written on the label).

CONDITION

Labels: VERY GOOD
Although yellowed by the bleed-through of the label adhesive, the writing is clear and there is no missing paper.

Visual: GOOD
The disc is clean & flat with no bends or warping. The lacquer on the playing surface is fully intact with just a tiny 2mm crack on the run-in. There are several surface marks and mild scratches consistent with the fair amount of handling & play this disc has received. The blank side of the disc has had a run-in cut into it which has been damaged in one area. There is also a tiny piece of lacquer missing from the around the centre hole.

Sound Quality: VERY GOOD

Despite its fragility, the sound quality is excellent and there is no groove/playwear distortion. The only distractions are some mild background/surface noise and an occasional light click. There are no jumps, repeats or any other significant or major faults on this rare disc.
