Songs From The Past Vol. 5

A 1990 reissue of this early Get Back Outing from a Yellow Dog Subsidiary. The Disc has been remastered and the matrix updated, the timings and qualify are unaltered. Replacing the slim CD case and bonus insert we now have Low Quality commercially printed stock with an alternate generic cover and green tray art , many home-made releases look more professional than this!

Original review

Nothing new this time on our fifth outing of Songs From The Past. Sourced from tape this is a vast improvement in quality to the earlier vinyl sources of Dream is Over , Sweet Apple Trax and Get Back Journals.

When released this was thought to be a collection of random days material , as Yellow Dog's mammoth collection of The complete Day By Day series became available it was apparent what we had was a heavy edit of 3 January Sessions and topped off with a few from the 7 January.

Whilst the first pressing has the same matrix as volume 4 it clearly has alternate mastering and I assume that this master was remade with the correct plant master code. The reissue mastering for Volume 1 and two was undertaken some considerable after this remastering, so you may find slimline first issues with the remastered disc.

I have seen an Italian CDR fake of the reissue but not the slim jewel case edition.
