The first thing that came to my mind was why a brown not 'Lapis' Blue coloured cover, which is pretty sad as it should be all about the music. Having said that the artwork does look good in particular the picture discs which feature two of Stuart Sutcliffe's later untitled Hamburg works. The pre-release details described this as the first factory pressed release of 'Baby Let's Play House'' not quite the limited BFB release in Europe of May We Have A Recording Contract, Please, was released slightly earlier, but that version retains the original talk over, but we are talking semantics now. I am sure the Misterclaudel release was available to a greater world wide audience with the BFB set being limited to just 500 units; the removal of the voice overs is an improved experience. Unfortunately I have not been able to do a direct comparison with the BFB release, but comparing it with the Purple Chick fan release Strong Before Our Birth, this sounds improved. What we do not have here is the the clutter of the BFB release or the bonus material that was on the Purple Chick release, having appeared on the earlier title Early Beatles Around U.K. 1962-1964. We will never have soundboard recordings for these tracks but this release is probably as good as we are going to get them and with the bonus of quality artwork this factory press set, deserves CORE status . At the time of writing I am not aware of a 'Fuzzy Fake' and hopefully there wont be one. As with previous releases look for crisp artwork and 'Taiwanese' pressed discs- See images below.
