This disc offers a nice-sounding upgrade from tape source of the "Blackpool Night Out" program, previously circulated as an mp3. A lot of the rest, however, is a bit of a trying experience. I hope some of these film-soundtrack recordings are super-rare, because they don't sound too great. This doesn't apply to all the tracks, only a few. All of the material on the disc had wildly different levels between the channels, even within a track, and the phase was wonky on much of it, plus most of the tracks ran slow. All of that is fixed now. In what may be a pattern for the Unicorn label, like the last CD of theirs that I fixed up, several of the tracks on this one had pretty severe DC offset, which will make your woofers suck in or push out, depending on which side of the center line it occurs. This is a telltale sign that the recordings passed through somebody's el cheapo soundcard. It's fixed now. DC offset eliminated, pitch, phase and level corrected at Remasters Workshop July 1, 2011 from the CD on Unicorn UC 088 (2001) |
