A European factory pressed clone of the very Hard to Find American Pegboy release of the same name. Unlike some Vigotone copies this an audio clone and is not likely to have any errors unlike some CDR releases from the well respected label. What you do not get is either the lavish slip case and book of the original , having said that neither did the latter copies of the original.
The artwork is very poor especially the use of a graphic cloning tool to remove the Pegboy label and Catalogue number, from the rear tray art. I have seen far superior artwork on home made releases,I think that it would have been more preferable if this release had received new artwork, as clearly the makers wished to make it clear it was NOT a genuine Pegboy release.
John Lennon Plastic Ono Band is the most critically acclaimed of all ex-Beatle solo music and The Dream Is Over is the most complete collection ever assembled of demos, alternates and outtakes for that album. We have compiled the music from the best available sources and, as an extra bonus, were able to include some exciting new material released here for the first time. This deluxe package includes a 28 page booklet of relevant photos and informative text. Enjoy.
As the slip case notes confirm this is a collection of material from the Plastic Ono Band Sessions in 1970 , whilst many tracks appeared originally on the Westwood One Radio Broadcast series not surprisingly these were copied on many bootlegs including Vigotone and Howdy's original 1990 and 1991 series of releases. What we have here is not just a well packaged compilation but a very enjoyable collection, with many upgrades from tape sources and some well edited compilations which give a better feel as to how some of the songs may have appeared. Only one of these in my view a waste of time , Track 17, I Found Out, which is a composite of the Australian Official release from John's Plastic Ono Band Album and the Rough mix which Pegboy has already provided on Track 16. I would have preferred to have seen/heard the Australian release complete or the incomplete alternate rough mix which they had previously released on their previous Look At Me release.
Latter Copies do NOT have a slip case . Sorry Please do not shoot the messenger , the Sept 2000 order form shows no slip case where as March 2000 does. If you have a NON Bar coded CDR edition with Slip case could you drop me a line.
