An unusual Bootleg from the title, based upon the Prerelease radio play
of I Got Stung through to it's content,'12 other songs'
from not one but two incomplete shows. What a waste of an excellent cover!
The album starts with Paul's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1999 along with a brief introduction by Neil Young.
Unfortunately I have been unable to clarify whether George Martin's or
Paul's speeches are complete as they were edited prior to broadcast ,
if anyone can clarify could they please drop me a line. Whilst the CD
is less than sixty minutes long What'd You Say has not been included with
the other two songs which Paul sang , but played no instrument.
All three tracks, but not the speeches can be found in better quality
on the Tapo Records set Sir Paul McCartney Pre Y2K , which
also is the best source for the second incomplete show. 'Here There And
Everywhere' A Concert For Linda . presenting not only the TV broadcast
but also the Audience recording of the unbroadcast Let It Be .
I am assuming that from the artwork that the Yellow Cat
show is cobbled together from the BBC Radio 2 and latter BBC 1 Television
shows , but unfortunately is still incomplete fro both Beatles and unrelated
artists again with the disc running at less than sixty minutes there was
room for more music.
And finally the title track I Got Stung a special mix, not that far removed
from that which was finally released, which Paul provided for Joe Brown's
BBC Radio 2 show Let It Rock which was first broadcast on the 5 July 1999.
Regrettably whilst I have been a fan of Yellow Dog / Cat releases
I would not recommend this title to any but fans that collect Bootleg
Labels / titles rather than musical content , for whom there are two different
pressings to locate , the slightly earlier Japanese Pressing and latter
European. I have not been able to compare versions so I do not know if
there are any mastering differences.
