Yellow Dog FAKES/Counterfeits

A label of Excellent reputation , which has subsequently been both heavily cloned and counterfeited. I have made the decision to differentiate between cloned discs where they have made some effort to amend either the title or artwork to those which are attempts to sell themselves as original items.

Check to see if you have Genuine Issues or to help update.

Unfortunately not all counterfeits are musically identical to the title they endeavour to copy. I have identified where possible which discs have been cloned and which have been remastered. I should however say that whilst a title may have been remastered this does not mean that the quality has changed , it may just be that there the space between tracks is greater.

I have found several batches of FAKES so far and have grouped them together here using the matrix number as a rough guide.

So far this group of fakes is not only the largest , the artwork is degraded and cropped on occasions, the most concerning aspect of these copies is that the mastering is different on a large number .

The matrixes of these FAKES includes the Yellow Dog Catalogue number and then further around the etched ring is their own Laser Beam Recorded Matrix Number.

Hamburg Germany label releases, I have been told by the guys behind Chapter One

Once again we are looking at degraded artwork some with cropping, the CD's have been mastered where the matrix number is regularly barely on the recordable part of the disc so the bottom half of the characters is missing. The paper is usally dull rather than glossy.

There is also a remastered version, so once again be aware that they are not all straight clones, musically.

I have only been able to find one of this type of fake so far and a disc with the same matrix number also appears on the Picador label
on their title Can You Hear Music In The Cans Vol. 5.

The artwork is degraded but not cropped.

Post 1994 FAKES the majority of which are not even clonmes of the originals they are meant to be.

They all carry Master SID's of either L851 or L852 and no Royalties details. All Artwork is Fuzzy.
