Prior to this film being identified, two other 8mm films have appeared, one of which is somewhat closer and a KCRA-TV broadcast contains Twist and Shout and She Loves You complete , part of which was included on the Anthology TV show/ Video release. 2013 - Auction InfoOffered is a 16mm camera original b&w amateur shot home movie film taken at The Cow Palace in 1964 of the Beatles and their opening acts... It is around 100ft total. This has been in my collection for over a decade from when I found it at a Bay Area fleamarket. It was spliced into other unrelated home movies when I bought it and labeled "Beatles" on the box. A true gem and extremely rare footage of the legendary Beatles performing.
Several people on stage in band and anouncer for about 35 sec, then, Jackie Delshannon in light colored tight dress visible(~10sec see last picture in auction). Then, the rest of the reel, just under two minutes is of the Beatles.
When the Beatles hit the stage, it is flashbulb crazy. John Lennon, Paul Mcartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr play to a crowd that is going nuts.
The whole film runs just over two and a half minutes run at 24fps. However it appears to be shot at 18fps so it's going to run longer than 2:30min run at 18fps; my projector didn't run at that speed. There is some jitteriness during first third or so of image, this goes away by the time the Beatles take the stage thankfully. However, throughout the film there is shakiness of the camera at times. The filming is best when the Beatles are on the stage thankfully and there are several long parts where it is good and steady. The film is silent, double perforated. The film was shot on Kodak stock, it has a date code between the perforations of a triangle, then a square. On the Kodak date code chart this means the stock was manufactured in 1964. Kodak date code charts are available online readily.
Condition:
Stored on an archival 4inch core, the film does not smell of vinegar. There is an small emulsion line on the right side of frame throughout the film. No perf damage or splices within film.
