London Airport, Heathrow - Departure #2

BEATLES 8MM COLOUR FILM - one off piece of amateur film footage on 8mm film reel. The silent film was taken by an amateur film maker (a worker at Heathrow Airport) on 13th March 1965 following a tip off that The Beatles were expected to be leaving the airport on that day, which happened to be during one of his shifts. He went to work armed with a 8mm Cine Film Camera and subsequently filmed the unique film which lasts around 1 min & 45 seconds. The unseen footage shows The Beatles leaving their car, arriving on the runway and climbing the steps to enter the aeroplane. The fab four can clearly be seen enjoying a joke with one another and a few others in their vicinity as Paul waves to John and John waves back to him. The film also shows an army of fans in the distance, some holding banners, all hoping to get a view of them before they leave. The scenes show John, Paul, George & Ringo in relaxed surroundings including John & Cynthia Lennon together and some very close up scenes of John. A fantastic piece of Beatles history. The film was taken two days after arriving back in the UK from the Bahamas, as The Beatles boarded the 11am flight from London Heathrow Airport to Salzburg, Austria to continue filming Help!
