NOTES

A previously unreported film became available in Aril 2013, via the on-line auction company eBay, several photographs of the film being shown on screen were provided but no video sample. The sales description identifies I'm Down as the final song, however other reports state that Paul introduces the last number Long Tall Sally because they don't want to be hit by lightening

Currently the only concert footage available is a small portion of a Black & White newsreel, with The Beatles playing I Feel Fine.

If anyone is able to provide some more information about the history and content of this film, please drop me a PM.

2013 - Auction Info

Just discovered silent 50' reel of Kodachrome color standard 8mm film shot at the Beatles concert on August 16, 1966. I have taken photos of the film being projected but they are not nearly as sharp as the projected film looks. I have an old 8mm projector with a low wattage bulb. I think if this film were to be transferred professionally to high resolution digital it would be pretty nice. This film has never been transferred, released or screened. It has been in a box in storage since the 60s.  There are shots of what must be the Ronettes set with women singing and dancing in glittering gold dresses while Ringo's drums sit on a riser above. There are shots of the Beatles playing- about half the 50' reel. The film ends with shots of the stadium when the lights are up and a van is driving off the field- probably with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr inside it.

The fifth date of The Beatles' final tour took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they performed one concert before around 20,000 people at the John F Kennedy Stadium.  They had previously played at Philadelphia's Convention Hall on 2 September 1964. Support acts for the entire tour were The Remains, Bobby Hebb, The Cyrkle and The Ronettes. The show took place during the beginning of an electrical storm with near-constant lightning, but the rain held off until shortly after The Beatles left the stage. The Beatles' standard set throughout the tour consisted of 11 songs: Rock And Roll Music, She's A Woman, If I Needed Someone, Day Tripper, Baby's In Black, I Feel Fine, Yesterday, I Wanna Be Your Man, Nowhere Man,Paperback Writer and I'm Down.
