Recording History

The first time I came across thsi disc was in November 2016, I woudl appreciate an additional information if you have seen it for sale before. As the fourth Dick James disc of this title it looks to be a well circulated title, probably with the UK single mix.

"Hard Day's Night" Dick James Music Limited Demo Disc - 45rpm Acetate - UK - 1964 Rare original UK Dick James demo disc / single-sided acetate of the classic Beatles tune "Hard Day's Night". Condition is not brilliant, but to be honest I've heard worse sounding acetates. While it is not the loudest cut you'll ever hear and there's a fair bit of surface noise, you can still hear the tune (in mono) as plain as day. I'm no expert on acetates and I don't know how possible it is to clean them up so I can't guarantee it's going to sound any better than it does now. Which is like a well played 52 year old single. But it plays, and there's no jumps or skips. See photos for details. I have only ever played it once and I did make a sound clip of the acetate. A video of it was uploaded to YouTube but was blocked in about 160 different countries within minutes of the upload :( Although the condition is not great, there's no doubting it is extremely rare and I'm offering it strictly as a collectors item of historical interest to Beatles fans. If you're after a mint condition super clean Beatles demo 45 then this isn't it, but even though it's in worn condition Beatles collectors will know how scarce this one is...
