Auction Description - 2016

Very rare UK Dick James demo disc / single-sided acetate of the classic Beatles tune "Girl". 
Recorded in 1965 for "Rubber Soul" the song was never released as a 45rpm single in the UK. 
Copies of Beatles Dick James demo discs are fairly widely known, although I've never seen another copy of this one.
Condition is not brilliant, but to be honest I've heard worse sounding acetates. While it is not the loudest cut you'll ever hear and there's a fair bit of surface noise, you can still hear the tune (in mono) as plain as day. I'm no expert on acetates and I don't know how possible it is to clean them up so I can't guarantee it's going to sound any better than it does now. Which is like a well played 51 year old single. There is a faint edge warp although this only affects the run-in grooves and not the actual song itself, it plays through fine. See photos for details. 
I have only ever played it once and I did make a sound clip of the acetate. A video of it was uploaded to YouTube but was blocked in about 160 different countries within minutes of the upload :(
Although the condition is really not great, there's no doubting it is extremely rare and I'm offering it strictly as a collectors item of historical interest to Beatles fans. If you're after a mint condition super clean Beatles demo 45 then this isn't it, but even though it's in worn condition Beatles collectors will know how scarce this one is...
