Originally released as a bonus disc as part of the deluxe Masterdisc Box set in Jan 1999, and later released as a numbered limited edition. The pre- release adverts describe it's contents as Unreleased new material.

A difficult title to review without an original, assuming that the copy I was given is of a genuine release, I can't see why this title didn't get a 'CORE' status and retained it, from that well known publication. I think that it was overlooked with a cursory mention that it contained nothing new or interesting.

Masterdisc is know to those who have studied their catalogue in depth, a label who has aspired to provide the best and have issued various repressings of their titles, which I have not seen reported elsewhere, with upgraded material. It is with this in mind that Backyard Spools should have been considered.

Containing an upgrade of the Acetate of The Beatles, White Album, material previously on their Primal Colours release along with material that was commonly available on Ultra Rare, Unsurpassed Masters and other common titles. I also suspect a couple of outfakes.

Hopefully I will find an original and will be able to do the title just. If you have an original what are your views.
