The fifth title from Strawberry Records on the face of it appears to be an upgrade of the previous G+E release Songs For Patti , after all the title states it is from the Master Tapes. When you look at the track listing it is apparent straight away that this statement is likely to be untrue, if the source of the material is from Master Tapes why do we have the same Bottleggers Introduction that appears on the First release of this material ,G+E shortly after the sale of 3 Apple Acetates at Sotheby's in Autumn 1994.
This is Yellow Dog's second release of this material both sourced from the same 1994 G+E release. The Black Dog release All Things Must Pass Acetate was a rush release with a some noise reduction and declicking, Strawberry's release has also received declicking and noise reduction , but it is nowhere near so harsh and we are left with a disc that is a vast improvement over the original release.
The material is a CORE collection of Rough Mixes and unless the genuine Master Tapes for these takes/mixes become available is not likely that there will be any upgrades.
There are at least two pressings of this Strawberry release and my current though is that the second pressing with Disc art where an alternate font has been used for 'George Harrison' is a European FAKE . I will update as I manage to locate more information.
