The first release of Paul's return to the Cavern Club, well the rebuilt Cavern Club from the Yellow Dog camp, on the Strawberry Records label and my favorite. It was later reissued on the Yellow Dog Title Rock Devil Rock Volume 2 with what appears to be poor tuning of the FM source or heavy Noise Reduction, without the audio patch for I Saw Her Standing There and Interview material this will also retain core status. Reviewing this title is somewhat difficult without the ability to cross refer with the other six sources, as identified in greater detail in the excellent book Eight Arms To Hold You, but of those I have heard this is my preferred choice, despite the reversed channels and slightly incomplete introductions. With the release of the official DVD release all of these titles are now for hard core collector only and even then it is not complete, with the edited introduction to Party. The Later..With Jools Holland tracks are of good source, providing Jools' introduction and Paul's songs you will have to look to another Yellow Dog release Rock Devil Rock I you want Paul's Interview and contribution to the show's opening jam and Birthday song for Sonia. Whilst some sources report that the two Yellow Dog titles Rock Devil Rock were also issued in Europe , I have yet to see any evidence to support this. Neither Belmo's Beatleg News or The 910 reviewed this title, so I can only assume that it very much remained a European release. The eagle eyed will spot that the use of the same images have been used to create the artwork for both this and the Yellow Dog release. |
