Turn Me On Dead Man: The John Barrett Tapes is a revelatory experience for Beatles fans, comprising tracks taken directly from the late Abbey Road engineer's cassette dubs of material he found during the vaults searches in 1982. Included are previously unavailable tracks and mixes as well as items featuring significant upgrades in sound quality from earlier appearances on other collections. The package also includes a booklet with informative liner-notes and rare photos. |
Vigotone was one of several labels issuing the John Barrett material, spread across several release and whilst it is borderline as to whether it is the best packaged , it is far from the definitive set as described by some. The number of FAKEs and their variations is amazing and I can only believe that some of them are down to dealer errors. An original is easy to spot with CDR's and the none rounded tabs on the slip case. I have been told that their is a Russian two disc FAKE without a slip case and no Vigotone branding which I am unable to confirm. |
