An interesting release that is not what it is billed in so many ways. First , I do not believe that this is a genuine Yellow Dog product, released in the Far East, with artwork too similar to the 1995 Genuine Yellow Dog titleThe Decca Tapes, but with a 'Japanese' Yellow Dog logo. Second, not all the tracks are The Beatles. The first tape on this disc has circulated for over two decades privately and have been the backbone of at least two 'gray' market releases in 1996 and 2008 both of which were stopped by Apple . Unfortunately only the first seven songs of this tape have any The Beatles involvement, and one of those 'Money' has an unknown lead vocalist, but nothing new. Only tracks 12-15 have not previously circulated on either official or bootleg releases and have no Beatles content. In 2008 a 30 second sample of A Taste Of Honey, track 3 was released demonstrating a variation on the line "I dream of your sweet kiss and then" rather than the "I dream of your first kiss and then" appearing on the other two sources. An edit of this sample and a portion from another incomplete version on an hard to find Roadrunner title appeared on the acclaimed fan created The Live Beatles Star Club title on Purple Chick. I wasn't longer however before they mamaged to source the complete verison and issued patch and Version 2 |
