NOTES

The has been so much written about the famous Some Other Guy acetates, unfortunately the majority of it is either incomplete or wrong with numerous facts being shuffled .I do not currently have the whole picture, but hopefully I have been able to point investigations in the right direction. If you have any facts or images please free to drop me a message.

To start with there looks to have been two double sided acetates, with Some Other Guy on both sides, sold at the UK auction house Sotheby's and that they have appeared more than once. Another Some Other Guy disc has been sold by Christie's but this was backed with Kansas City.

I am assuming that being sold less than a year after the last sale of a double sided disc at half the price tha this is an alternate cutting.

1994/5 - Auction Info - Lot 759/766

An Acetate Recording Of Some Other Guy by The Beatles, 1962, a double-sided, 7inch disc, unlabelled, sleeve with title in black felt pen, good condition This acetate contains two ostensibly identical takes of the Ritchie Barrett song and emanate from the lunchtime concert at the Cavern Club, 22nd August 1962, which was filmed and recorded by Granada Television. Importantly, the take is not that used in the now-famous, unique Granada clip: the group would have performed the song several times, in order for the TV unit to complete its filming. Cavern Club Mc, Bob Wooler, can be heard introducing the track and one side has an edited comment from John at the end of the song, We'll probably have to...'. Sold in these rooms, Ist September 1983, when it was recorded that this acetate was purchased at the NEMS shop in Liverpool in 1962 for half a crown.
