An unusual release in that it gives us NOTHING new , indeed 9 tracks are lifted from Anthology 3 , so you could argue not even very good value. But it continuesto be a popular release, realising good prices when it comes up for sale in any factory pressed version. For me the interesting thing about this release has been the packaging, not that it is lavish like a Vigotone release , but that with all the variations there are at least 5 images of the famous crossing. Indeed it would have made an excellent release if a booklet had included all these. The Original release was a factory pressed silver disc with only 19 tracks despite the artwork. Nothing is missing just the mastering has a couple of Medleys. This seems to be updated on other releases. There are at least two 25 track versions on a white screen printed disc using the same font style, albeit it slightly thinner, the matrix of this title matches several other Walrus releases so I do not know if it is a Genuine reissue or a Rem(F)ake. Interestingly whilst ALL the artwork is fuzzy on this version the Back of the Cover and inner tray have alternate images of the Beatles crossing; both with traffic behind them, including a red London Bus! |
