An American reissue of the very hard to locate European reelase Songs For Patti on the G+E label.
As is usual for the Red Robin label they have used the original artwork with the addition of their own logo and on this occasion they have corrected the track titles , 16 and 18 , which were mis titled on the original release and darkened some text above George's hair. It should be noted that there is also fan made tray art which improves on the home made look of the Red Robin alterations.
The 'Bootlegger's Introduction' has been shortened to remove the rock band after "...you might dig out that old 78 which probably sounds like this".
I have not heard this release so I am unable to comment on the quality , but if other titles are anything to go on there is likely to have been loss of quality on the transfer.
Dependent upon the date of release this title may have been obsolete before it was even made, with the release of Strawberry's Songs For Patti The Master Tape Version in summer 1995.
If any one can verify the release date , quality and a disc scan for the Red Robin Release that would be very helpful.
An understated title which was released in Europe in late 1994 shortly after the sale of three Apple Acetates as Sotheby's Auction rooms. There are no liner notes to suggest what is up for offer and reissues from other labels are probably easier to find.
The track listing on the tray art s very poor , with tracks 14 and 16 mistitled , it wouldn't have taken long to compare to those on a commercial release and label correctly. Understandably there is some confusion over the title of track 19 as this is a previously unreleased gem which latter went on to be recorded by Ringo and was titled at that stage as I'll Still Love You . You can here at this stage George call it Whentever , which is probably not a serious attempt at naming the title.
The other label reissues came fast over the next few months, with an almost immediate release of All Things Must Pass Acetate , Black Dog which has received a quick Noise reduction and processing job. A reported audio clone from Songs for Patti ,Red Robin copying the original artwork with slightly amended tray art correcting the track listing of tracks 14 and 16. The third release also from the Yellow Dog camp , Songs for Patti The Master Tape Version , Strawberry records in the Summer of 1995 is by far the best, having undergone a far better clean up job and remains a Core title to this day.
Interestingly whilst researching the various releases of this material I have found little in the way of correct information, with incorrect track listings and reviews. It appears as if this and the early reissues are somewhat difficult to locate and many people have relied upon artwork for their information.
In Belmo's Beatleg News #47 there is a detailed review including a description of the three acetates sold by Sotheby's , however he is clearly working from notes proceeds to confuse the reader by saying that the next song after Behind That Locked Door is a new song which is mistitled as I Live for You . If you assume he has just missed the I live for you track it will all make more sense.
